Use this form to claim a Scottish Welfare Fund Award
You may be entitled to a Scottish Welfare Fund Award if:
- you live in Midlothian, and you need help because of an emergency or a crisis
- or you need help to remain or settle in the community.
The awards are usually white goods (for example, refrigerators, cookers or washing machines), good quality second hand furniture or cash for specific goods.
If you provide a mobile phone number we'll send you a text as soon as a decision has been made on your claim. Please be aware it may take up to 48 hours for a decision to be reached.
You can also claim for Discretionary Housing Payments
The Council has a limited amount of money that can be used to help residents in receipt of Universal Credit whose housing costs are not being met in full.
The scheme is not part of the benefits legislation. All awards are made at the Council's discretion. To be eligible you will need to show that your circumstances are exceptional.
Awards are normally for a period of between 2 to 6 months and cannot be relied upon to solve long term shortfalls in benefit.
